FAQ

We advise for you to look carefully at the job advert, job description and person specification. The person specification will detail what criteria’s are required for the role and whether you meet them. Ask yourself what interests you in the role and what you can bring to the team…

If you would like more information about any of the roles you can contact our dedicated Employee Resourcing Team on 01782 238189 or email recruitment@stoke.gov.uk

The relevant pay scale will be shown at the top of all our adverts, you will normally start on the lowest point of the salary scale for the position however, this can be discussed with the recruiting manager upon appointment.

The closing date will be stated on all adverts, this would be until midnight of the day itself. In order for your application to be considered, your completed form must be received by us in time of the closing date specified. Applications received after the deadline will not normally be accepted.

As part of our equal opportunities policy, we ask candidates to provide their information in the same format; therefore, curriculum vitaes are not accepted.

The exception to this is any roles in which we use a fast track application service, in which case we do accept CVs. Details for this will be stated on the related adverts.

We collect and use the data to identify trends in applications submitted and if there’s anything from the data we can improve on.

This is in line with legal requirements and government recommendations. The data helps us ensure our process is effective and evolving as the trends change. It helps us identify any issues that are in the way of us building a workforce that represents our communities.

The data is used safely and completely anonymous so would not link back to any individual. This is not seen by anyone other than HR as per legal guidelines and to follow a fair recruitment process.

We score applications from the criteria’s marked in the Person Specification under column a. Upon completion of the shortlisting, the recruiting manager would inform HR of the scores and which candidate to invite (they only know your Applicant ID at this stage).

As we follow a fair recruitment and selection process, your application decisions aren’t influenced by any protected characteristics as this information isn’t sent onto the shortlisting panels.

We would send you an email from our system to advise of this and the steps to take if you would like any feedback.

You can contact our Employee Resourcing Team on 01782 238189 or email recruitment@stoke.gov.uk

When sending interview invites we do ask all candidates to advise of any special requirements or adjustments needed for them to attend and take part in the selection process (interviews, tests, assessments etc.).

If anything is required, this would be stated within your interview invite email.

After all the interviews have been completed, the panel will review the scores and choose the most suitable person to offer the role for. If you are unsuccessful, you will be contacted to discuss feedback following your interview.
